After the tedious process of recruiting the potential employees, selecting the right employee from all the applications and hiring the employee, it’s only right that they should be given the right kind of job training so that they understand best what they would be going into and understand the ABCs of the job that they are going to do.

Job training is defined as an organized process for increasing the knowledge and the skill of the new employee for performing a specific job. Employees can acquire knowledge, skills and aptitudes required for doing a particular job with the help of proper job training. The main purpose of training is to bring about efficiency in the workspace and honestly speaking, there is no end to learning, so there is always room for improvement and training for both existing and new employees.

Why is job training so important? Most of the organizations believe and encourage proper job training because it is useful and beneficial for both the employers as well as the employees. From the employer’s point of view, successful job training leads to a trained and efficient work force, which is always good for the organization. On the other hand, from the employee’s point of view, training enables them to obtain the security of their job as well as increase the chances of a promotion which means more earnings.

There are different types of job training in the modern organization; some of them are listed below.

  1. Orientation Training – Also known as induction training, this type of training is usually given to new employees with an aim to familiarize them with the rules and regulations of the organization they are working in. In this training, the new employees also get the scope of socializing with their superiors, subordinates as well as their colleagues.
  1. General Job Training – This training is given to existing employees to make them even more efficient in performing their duties and operations. Job training is also helpful to those who have no work experience, basically freshers.
  1. Other Trainings – Other types of training includes safety training, promotional training and refresher training (a type of training for avoiding employee obsolescence and for refreshing the memory of the employees).

Nowadays, the organization also follows different types of methods for training their employees. One such method is on-the-job training, where the employees are assigned tasks in their actual workplace; it’s more of a ‘hands-on’ approach. Other methods are off-the-job training (trained outside the workplace), apprenticeship training (training by attaching an employee to a senior employee and learning by observing the work of the senior employee) and internship training (collaboration between business houses and technical institutions for the purpose of training the employees).
